Description
Inputlog-LibreOffice is a keystroke logging tool. It records the timing and location of each keypress in Writer Documents and generates an XML-file with the output that is stored on your computer. It also saves Writer Documents versions, for each work session. It can be used to document writing processes, for example for writing process research or for personal archiving needs.
This extension was developed by Resoftlabs, commisioned by Huygens Institute as part of a research project on the digital work processes of comtemporary authors. This project, called Track Changes, including the development of this extension, was funded by the Dutch Research Council.
Next to Inputlog-LibreOffice, there is a standalone Inputlog application that can be used to log keystrokes and mouse actions in Microsoft Word. (It is freely accessible through the Inputlog homepage.) The generated xml-files from the LibreOffice extension can be read by the standalone application, which offers a number of analyses, pre and post-processing tools.
Minimum requirements:
- LibreOffice version: 7.1.6
- Windows 10
The extension also works on Mac, allthough it has not been tested as extensively for Mac and it has been optimised for Windows users.
The user manual can be found here.
