Modern (Source Pro)

45 16

This template is an attempt at creating a nice and modern looking default template for LibreOffice Writer. It is derrived from the "modern"-template which is shipped with LibreOffice by default. However, my version only uses the Adobe Source Pro font-family instead of Caladea and Carlito. Moreover, it makes some specific format decisions tailored for university seminar papers.

Project Description

This template can be used as a replacement for the default template. Main motivation was to have a good template for writing seminar papers with beautiful out-of-the box results.

The only fonts used in this template are:

  • Source Serif Pro
  • Source Sans Pro
  • Source Code Pro
  • OpenSymbol (for Bullets)

Moreover, the following characteristica are (inter alia) set as standard settings:

  • Headings: as in "modern"
  • Text body: 12, Justification, Hyphenation, Line-Spacing: 1.5
  • Quotations: 11, Justification, Hyphenation, Italic, Line-Spacing: 1.15
  • Footnotes: 10.5, Justification, Hyphenation, Line-Spacing: 1
  • Footer & Header: 10.5

Note: Since Source Serif Pro does currently not support true italics, this template is not considered to be ready at this point. This is also the reason (see: source) why LibreOffice only ships Source Sans Pro, Source Code Pro, and OpenSymbol by default. Source Serif Pro has to be downloaded and installed from Github. Hopefully, LibreOffice will ship Source Serif Pro by default in a future version once true italics are finalized by the Adobe designer. As I already have made the template, I'm publishing it here now anyways.
